A Letter from the Treasurer regarding online giving through paypal

                                                               ONLINE DONATIONS THROUGH PAYPAL

Online Donations through the Church website are directed to the PayPal Giving Fund, instead of PayPal’s normal online payment platform, as had been done previously. Changing to the PayPal Giving Fund will annually save the Church over $1,100 in fees.
 
The following are the differences in processing donations through the PayPal Giving Fund as compared to how previous donations through PayPal’s normal online payment platform were handled:

• The PayPal Giving Fund will send a donation receipt to the donor as support for the charitable contribution for income tax purposes.
• To include donations made through the PayPal Giving Fund against the amount pledged for the year, these donations will be reflected on a parishioner’s Giving Statement as a non-deductible contribution. This is done to avoid the double counting of charitable contributions for income tax purposes as the support for the income tax deduction comes from the PayPal Giving Fund.
• Donations processed through the PayPal Giving Fund may not be posted to a parishioner’s Giving Statement until the subsequent month because of the timing of when the cash is received by the Church from the PayPal Giving Fund.

 

•  The PayPal Giving Fund does not provide for automatic recurring donations. Each donation will need to be entered separately.
