Prayer Shawls

Interested in becoming a part of this amazing ministry?
The Knit, Pray, Crochet group meets regularly for conversation, prayer and, of course, creating prayer shawls, prayer pocket squares, and prayer hearts. Come knit, crochet, and pray with us as we work to wrap those in need with love.

Ministry

This ministry has been a source of comfort and celebration for people from all over the globe.  The patterns are simple and experienced textile artists are on hand to help you. Grab some coffee or tea and a bagel and join us for about an hour.

Pocket Prayer Shawls

We all know how cuddly, warm, and loving the prayers shawls are! Anyone who receives one can feel the love and prayer that went into every stitch. Knitting these shawls and distributing them to people who need support and encouragement is a fabulous ministry that helps so many people.

There is another kind of prayer shawl that is easily sent to loved ones and friends in a card, or to someone in the hospital who might not be able to have a full-size shawl. These pocket prayer squares or prayer hearts can also be sent to our service men and women far away. Some even go to Nigeria with our medical teams! The prayer that is included with the pocket prayer shawl is as powerful and heartfelt as the one on the large shawls.

Please pick up one of the pocket prayer squares or hearts, which are in the basket with the large shawls, and send or give it to someone you love and care about. Nothing can take the place of the large shawls that wrap people in comfort and warmth, but these can also tell someone you are thinking of them and show them that they are loved!

Every month, we give away as many shawls as we make, and if we make more, we can give away more!
Even if you cannot join us, everything you need (yarn, needles and directions) is available in the Church Library.
Don't knit? We can help you learn.
Don't want to learn? We always need donations of money, yarn and supplies to continue to make the shawls.
If you are interested in participating, please contact the office.
