Tariffville, CT  06081

To donate online, via PayPal Giving Fund, click the Donate button below.

** Please note: As of May 2, 2023,  we are using the PayPal Giving Fund to receive donations. The PayPal Giving Fund allows us to receive donations without being charged for their service. When you click the donate button below, the page  you are sent to will look different, but the functions remain the same. Thank you for your understanding.** ***Unfortunately, at this time, the PayPal Giving Fund does not have a way to let us know if you are giving a gift in memory of a certain person. A work around for this is to email us at [email protected] and let us know that you sent money through the Pay Pal Giving Fund in Memory of this person or send us a check with "In Memory of "and the person's name in the memo line.  There may also be a way to send a check through your banks bill pay section including the memo line, however that depends on your bank. Thank you, again, for understanding. ***

 A Promise we Give

It's Stewardship Season, and we are excited about where God will lead us!

We are Doing God's Work in the World
Almost 175 years ago, some residents of Tariffville joined together in prayer and founded Trinity Church as a worshipping community. After meeting in several different locations around Tariffville, our current brownstone building was consecrated close to 150 years ago.

Since then, Trinity has been a beacon of hope in the Farmington Valley, providing a place of prayer, healing, and worship in the neighborhood, gathering together people of faith who are all part of the rich history of our story here.

Those people of faith and others as time went on are the ones who tended our story, the story of God, throughout our history. We are living out the story of the transformative power of Jesus today, and carrying that good news into the future.

Since the beginning of Christianity, we've seen that Christian growth comes from gathering as a community, and generous sharing of time, talent, and treasure. You, yes you, are invited to come and see how the Lord works when we make an investment in the future of God's story here at Trinity Tariffville.

Why I Give Parish Project

We asked our parishioners "Why do you give?" Here are some of their responses.

Stewardship Chair, Mark Tschiegg tells the story of his start with giving.

Pledges

Note from the Stewardship Team:

Even in 2023, maybe especially in 2023, God calls us to generous giving.

Let's ask - what difference would it make if Trinity Tariffville didn't exist? How would my life, my family's life, the community's life, be impacted?

As we come back to gathering in person, the story of the Trinity Church Tariffville community continues to be one of faithfulness. Over the past year, we've offered:
  • hundreds of worship services, including daily Morning Prayer, Compline, and our Sunday services in person, on Zoom, Facebook, YouTube, and Simsbury Community Television. In the fall of 2022, we've returned to two morning services each Sunday.
  • New women's and men's groups, meeting at the church and in the community
  • New after-church weekly education programs
  • Fill the Truck events, providing hundreds of bags of food to hungry neighbors
  • A Sunday School program each Sunday, year-round
  • Pastoral care, including the Eucharistic Visitors, Healing Team, Prayer Chain, Meal Train and more
  • Pizza, Prayer & a Pint gathering monthly at a local pub
  • Opportunities for youth to serve at Simsbury Untapped, Pumpkin Patch and more
  • Monthly provisions of a meal and worship at Lunch in the Park
  • Hosted outdoor movie nights and a Halloween celebration for the neighborhood
  • Over 60 parishioners participating in online bible studies
  • Weekly music ministry online gatherings, Lessons & Carols, and Vespers services
  • Altar guild, lay readers, ushers and others are continuing to serve
  • Continued opportunities to give, globally, to Kateri Medical Services and Africa Education Partnership
  • Outreach to college students and recent grads with the Keep in Touch (KIT) program
  • Christmas in the Village neighborhood event

Trinity's story is an important one; a story that makes an impact in our communities and the world.

How can I be a part of ensuring this work continues?

It is such a blessing to be part of Trinity Church and God's work, locally and worldwide. Your gifts of volunteering and financial contributions not only allow us to continue to support a thriving Church, but also to fund numerous outreach activities in the local community and in many parts of the world.

Each giver has an impact on, and a hand in, sharing the love and the story of our Lord.

Tithing

Picture
In many of our stewardship testimonies and sermons, we talk about “tithing” as the biblical norm. But we don’t always explain it very well.  To learn more about what the Bible teaches about giving for the work of God’s kingdom, click here.

Know that God takes whatever you can give and blesses and grows it to serve each other, our community, and the world.

Planned Giving

The Minister of the Congregation is directed to instruct the people, from
time to time, about the duty of Christian parents to make prudent
provision for the well-being of their families, and of all persons to make
wills, while they are in health, arranging for the disposal of their
temporal goods, not neglecting, if they are able, to leave bequests for
religious and charitable uses.
— Book of Common Prayer, 445
In the same way we plan for the current work of the church, the Book of Common Prayer reminds us that good stewardship can continue even after we die. Healthy and vibrant ministries have been built upon the legacies we leave today. Many of our Episcopal institutions exist because past generations cared so much about the future of the Church and expressed their caring by creating planned gifts.

We hope that you will consider including the Trinity Tariffville in your estate or financial plans and help sustain our mission for generations to come. Whatever approach you choose, your gift will honor the vision and mission of Trinity for years to come.

There are many ways to make planned gifts to the church, including:
  • Bequests and Wills
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Retirement Plans
  • Charitable Trusts
  • Bank Accounts, Securities, and Certificates of Deposit
  • Life Insurance Policies

If you are interested in making a planned gift to Trinity Tariffville, please contact the church office. You are encouraged to speak to your financial adviser, to find the planned gift that is best for you!

Pledge Envelopes

Using the pledge envelopes makes life easier for our staff and volunteers. Please help them process your donations by doing the following:
  1. Please put only your stewardship pledge donation in your white pledge envelope.
  2. Please make out a separate check for donations for other causes. Make check out to Trinity Church with the purpose written in the memo section and place in separate plain envelope with the purpose written on the envelope. Please do not use your white pledge envelopes for these donations.
  3. Please do not combine the dollar amounts for different donations into one check. This includes the Special Offering Envelopes in your box. We're unable to process single checks made out for multiple purposes.
  4. Kateri Medical Clinic Donations - Must be made out to Kateri Medical Services, Inc., not to Trinity Church.

End of the Year Charitable Tax Donation Statements

Following these procedures will enable us to credit all your contributions to the correct accounts. Yearly summary donation statements will be mailed out to you at the end of January. They are a complete record of all the contributions that you made during the previous year. Please look them over carefully to be sure they are accurate and call the office at once if anything needs to be updated.

If you have any questions please call Carol in the office at 860-651-0201.
