“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven.” The Tapestry Singers were formed in 1999 under the direction of the late Jana Pivácek-Cole, with the purpose of performing to raise money for the benefit of others. At the request of the singers, I took over as director of this eclectic group in January of 2013 after Jana’s passing.
The group aspires to reconnect and re-infuse one another with respect for all generations…through the composition of the group as well as the music selections we offer. Currently, the group is comprised of 15 singers, representing a variety of ages, towns and churches. Our primary concerts are directed at raising awareness and finances for the Kateri Medical Clinic in Nigeria, Africa. The two 2015 concerts raised over $11,600 for this cause! Please mark your calendars for this year’s concerts: June 4, 2016 at 7 pm and June 5, 2016 at 2 pm. The Annual Benefit Concerts to raise awareness of (and financial assistance for) the Kateri Medical Clinic are fast approaching! I am personally inviting you to attend one of the upcoming concerts, right here at Trinity church! I guarantee you will have a great time! A variety of music will be presented to trigger fond memories, including songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Billy Joel, hits from Broadway, reflections of God and patriotism, even folk songs! You will also have an opportunity to meet some of the individuals traveling with Fr. Tom to Nigeria this summer. Bring a friend, a neighbor, a relative! Paula, your Director of Music Ministry Father Tom has often said that “Tariffville is the Center of the Universe!” And for Social Media Sunday, that holds true. As far as I know, in 2013, we were the first church to ever hold a Social Media Sunday. Through it, we were able to share our lives, our faith, and our church with our friends and contacts on social media. Last year, we took the Social Media Sunday to the whole Episcopal Church. Those who participated made #Episcopal, #SMSunday and #SocialMediaSunday trending topics on Twitter that day, and Episcopalians all over the world had over 10,000,000 impressions of our church and faith on our collective posts. Even the Archbishop of Canterbury tweeted about it. This year, we’re going ecumenical, and asking the entire body of Christ to share their faith and worship lives online on Social Media Sunday, October 25, 2015, using the hashtag #SMS15 That means you. Yes, you. How can you participate?
You can:
Whatever you do, PLEASE USE THE HASHTAG #SMS15 or no one will see that you participated. If you also use our church hashtag #TCTville, we will be able to find and support each other online. Any questions? You can find me on social media - @singingcarolyn on almost any platform, or bring them to the workshop October 4th. See you online on October 25th for #SMS15! |
