Popular area band, The Daily Planet, will be the headline musical act at the Tariffville Fall Festival on Sunday, September 23, 2018.
In the late 1970’s, and early 1980’s, The Daily Planet was one of the most popular bands in the Hartford area. The Russian Lady, Mad Murphy’s, 36 Lewis Street, The Rocking Horse, and Sean Patrick’s were all frequent downtown venues where the band performed. The Daily Planet played hundreds of times in Hartford alone. Part of the reason for the band’s success was the unique mix of sixties and seventies songs that were performed. Unlike many other bands, you might hear a Motown song, followed by The Byrds , Blondie, NRBQ, or Tom Petty - all put together in a highly danceable, energetic set. The band broke up in the mid 1980’s. The most popular lineup of the band featuring Linda Ripley (vocals), Marshall Grossman (drums, vocals), Ray Williard (bass, vocals, who also plays and sings with the contemporary music group at Trinity Church Tariffville), Paul Kriksciun (guitar), and Dennis Udice (guitar, vocals) is back and will be performing at the Tariffville Fall Festival. Come enjoy this energetic mix of music at the Tariffville Fall Festival on Sunday, September 23, 2018. The Daily Planet is available for select bookings.
