Paula Kern
Organist and Choir Director
Paula stepped in to fulfill the role of Organist and Choir Director in September of 2012, bringing a contagious enthusiasm and spirituality to the position. Paula firmly believes that music at Trinity is indeed first a “ministry,” and the gift we bring before the Lord and to others is that of our music.

Paula teaches the choirs that when we sing or play with intention, we are able to move our listeners to places of reflection, hope, and gratitude. Paula has been a parishioner at Trinity Church since 1998. In addition to sharing her musical gifts of piano, organ, voice, and directing with Trinity, she has been active on the Vestry, in the Outreach Commission, as a Lay Reader, with Youth Group Fundraisers, Lunch in the Park, Faith Alive, and the Alpha Program.
Paula grew up in Minnesota where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in the areas of Business, Music, and Scandinavian Studies. She was the Organist and Choir Director for St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Owatonna, MN for 9 years, after which time she and her husband, Greg, moved to Georgia. After 14 years down south, a job at The Phoenix Companies in Hartford brought the couple to Connecticut in 1998.
Since 2000, Paula has been performing as an accompanist and singer with The Tapestry Singers, a multi-generational group founded by Jana Pivacek-Cole that performs throughout CT to raise money for various causes. In January of 2013, Paula became director of the Tapestry Singers.
Paula continues to work full-time for The Phoenix Companies in product development. She and Greg have been married 29 years and have two children.
