We need your help!

Come join in the important (and fun!) work with Trinity’s youth! Have an hour per year to give? We can use you! Have a couple of hours per week to offer? We can use you there, too. Contact Nicole Dalto ndalto@trinitytariffville.org with your questions, or check out the volunteer job descriptions below to see what fits you.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:23-25

Mission Statement:

To engage students and build them up so that they may better know Christ and desire to live a life for Him.

Small Group Leader (3-4 hours a week on Sundays, plus 2 weekends a year):

Being a small group leader is a one-school-year commitment to the youth ministry.

As a small group leader you will be asked to lead discussions during small group time. All small group discussions will be based off of that night’s teaching. The materials to lead small group time will be provided. It is not your responsibility to come up with your own questions or topics, though you may go off script if it is helpful to your group. The materials will be provided in advance of the youth group meeting. On occasion there will be skits or other theatrics used during youth group, and you are invited to join in on the skits. These meetings will occur every Sunday from 6:30-8pm, unless otherwise notified. We ask that you make a commitment to miss no more than 5 meetings.

Small group leaders will also be asked to take part in a minimum of two events outside of regular youth group meetings. These events* can be, but are not limited to: retreats, mission trips, service projects, or game nights.

Most importantly, small group leaders shall develop respectful and healthy Christ-centered relationships with the students in their small group. You are there as a safe place for them to share their faith, struggles, and happiest stories. It is very important that you be a good listener and are encouraging to each student in your group.

*The youth ministry will do its best to keep cost for trips and events as low as possible for its leaders. Our goal is to have leaders join us for free since they are providing a great service, however, leaders may be asked to help fund part of their trip or event if necessary.

Prayer Team (5 min per day, in your own time and space):

The youth group needs prayer. Prayer is how we communicate to God and also how we can hear from God. Please take any five minutes a day that you have to be praying for the students, the group as a whole, and their leaders. It is much easier to follow God when you are in communication with him! There will be a place in the youth room where anonymous prayer requests can be placed, and each week the requests will be collected and an email with any prayer needs will be sent out to the team. Please check your email regularly for any updates.

Prior to the start of youth group, Nicole will be praying for that night’s gathering in the youth room. You are not required to attend this prayer session, but the option is there if you would like to participate in group prayer for the youth.

Set up/ take down Crew (1 hour a week on Sundays):

Every week prior to youth group there will be things that need to be set up. Bibles will need to be taken out, dodge balls will need to be counted, chairs may need to be folded. In some cases, A/V equipment will need to be set up and properly functioning. This is a commitment to help serve every week either before or after youth group. You may serve during both and stay through the youth group meeting. We request that with this commitment you try not to miss more than 5 meetings.

The youth ministry may not need help with set up or take down every week. If there is a night that will not require any assistance, we will let you know at least 24 hours in advance.

If you do choose to stay during the youth group session please feel free to participate in games and interact with the students. You may join a small group that evening, but please let the leader know that you will be sitting in on their group.

Hospitality (5 meals a year):

Everyone loves food. There is something very spiritual about breaking bread together. The youth group humbly requests one meal a month from our hospitality volunteers. This is a great volunteer opportunity for those who do not have a lot of free time or feel that they may not relate well to the students. Food is an incredible blessing and will be greatly appreciated by each and every person who will be enjoying it.

Master of Games (2 hours a week, during Youth Group):

One of the fun elements of youth group is the chance to be a kid and act your age. Society tells kids to mature quickly, study hard, and to be involved in as many activities as possible. Youth Group is not just about teaching the Bible, it’s also a place that kids can be themselves. Lets face it, all kids love games. Many times games are highly involved, and we could use someone to explain the games to other leaders, explain the rules to the kids, set the game up, and participate in the game. On occasion we may need a ref, or someone to keep score. If we always played the same games, they would get boring. The Master of Games can get ideas from the other youth leaders, their own resources, and Nicole’s library of games and activities to help come up with new games that will allow the youth group students to act their age.

Extra Leader (1 event per year)

We can never have enough adults around during trips. There are many special events that the youth group holds every year and it’s nice to have some extra adults around to have fun with the kids and help make things run smoothly. This is a great way to test the waters and see if youth ministry is for you. As an extra leader you will be called on for trips where we may need to have extra leaders. One of the requirements for extra leaders is that they are willing to be a driver for the events that they participate in. You are not limited to volunteering for only one event per year, but will be called upon once to help out when there is a need.
