Most of us begin our conscious pursuit of God at a younger part of life. We become church members, we learn to pray, and our worship deepens. We attend classes and events where we add understanding to our faith. We volunteer and cook, we lead youth events, and set up lots of chairs and tables.
What changes as we age? How does our faith life adjust as we move into the last quarter of this life? And, how does our ministry - the way we serve God and others, change as we are not able to do the physical things we once did? In the culture of the working world, retirement means the end of our careers and the significance we once had in our work life. But, it turns out that the work of our spiritual lives with Christ take on a very specific significance. And, it is a significance not only affecting us, but the life and mission of our churches, and in the legacy of a life with God we leave to our grandchildren. The Spirituality of Aging is a discussion that will open us all to a new perspective of an often overlooked part of our faith.

Holiday time is a mixture of anticipation, expectation, reflection and sorrow. For those of us who have lost loved ones it can be a time of sadness or anger or a time of melancholy. The demands of time and responsibility crowd in upon us and we lose what exactly this season is all about.
Let us look with a sense of celebration to the star that points the way to new life, new freedom and precious memories that bring peace and comfort. As you struggle with the season we invite you to attend here at Trinity A Service of Hope and Healing on Wednesday, December 12th at 7 PM This is a quiet, reflective service filled with prayers, music and healing thoughts. “Give voice to sorrow. Lend words to loneliness. Make heard the depth of your despair and the breaking of your heart. For what remains unspoken can never burst into healing song.” We're excited to host neighborhood children and families for a new event - Selfies with Santa - on December 1, 2018!
Guests will enjoy a pancake breakfast and some craft activities. Families will then have a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bring your phone or camera to take your own pictures to share however you want! Don't have a camera - no worries, we can also take the picture for you. Bring your kids, bring your neighbors, and come ring in the holiday season with a Selfie with Santa at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Tariffville, CT! Social Media Sunday: This Sunday, September 30th here at Trinity! Social Media Sunday started at Trinity Tariffville in 2013, as a way for parishioners to share faith online and invite others to come and see what God is up to at Trinity. It has since grown to an ecumenical event, where people of faith all around the world join in the Church online to share their faith and invite others to come and see. Get ready to go ye into the world (wide web), and make disciples of all the nations! Questions? Carolyn Clement is happy to help. Find her @singingcarolyn on most social media platforms.
Trinity has a long history of offering top-notch music events to the community. Overseen by Trinity’s Director of Music, along with Trinity’s Music Commission, the final event in our Music Series is our Festival of Lessons and Carols. The 39th Annual Candlelight Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Sun, Dec 6 at 4:30pm (Childcare 3-6pm)
Our focus this year is to simplify the music and engage the listeners! Whether you are singing from the choir or from the pews, our intentions as we sing will be heartfelt and aim to move you to a place of reflection, hope, and gratitude. We hope you realize the true meaning of Advent, think more intently about the Words read from the Bible, and rejoice in the birth of Jesus. The Festival Choir and Choristers will be accompanied on the organ and piano by Erik Eickhoff, Director of Music at Westminster Presbyterian Church in West Hartford and Booking Director for Phillip Truckenbrod Concert Artists in Hartford. Mr. Eickhoff has served Lutheran, United Methodist, Episcopal, and Presbyterian churches in Minnesota, New York City, and Connecticut. Most recently he served as Assistant Organist at Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford. In August 2009 the Cathedral Choir, under Canon Kevin Jones, traveled to Ely and St. Paul’s Cathedrals, where Erik served as service organist. He studied organ with Charles Luedtke, John Ferguson, and Thomas Murray. Dan Moskey, and other members of the Contemporary Worship Team will also accompany the Festival Choir on the keyboard and other instruments. Please join us for a Cookie and Punch Reception in the Parish Hall after the service.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven.” The Tapestry Singers were formed in 1999 under the direction of the late Jana Pivácek-Cole, with the purpose of performing to raise money for the benefit of others. At the request of the singers, I took over as director of this eclectic group in January of 2013 after Jana’s passing.
The group aspires to reconnect and re-infuse one another with respect for all generations…through the composition of the group as well as the music selections we offer. Currently, the group is comprised of 15 singers, representing a variety of ages, towns and churches. Our primary concerts are directed at raising awareness and finances for the Kateri Medical Clinic in Nigeria, Africa. The two 2015 concerts raised over $11,600 for this cause! Please mark your calendars for this year’s concerts: June 4, 2016 at 7 pm and June 5, 2016 at 2 pm. The Annual Benefit Concerts to raise awareness of (and financial assistance for) the Kateri Medical Clinic are fast approaching! I am personally inviting you to attend one of the upcoming concerts, right here at Trinity church! I guarantee you will have a great time! A variety of music will be presented to trigger fond memories, including songs by Rodgers and Hammerstein, Billy Joel, hits from Broadway, reflections of God and patriotism, even folk songs! You will also have an opportunity to meet some of the individuals traveling with Fr. Tom to Nigeria this summer. Bring a friend, a neighbor, a relative! Paula, your Director of Music Ministry |
