Diocese of Western Tanganika, Tanzania:
- The diocese of Western Tanganyika was established in 1966 with a small handful of parishes and a membership of 7,000.
Since then, it has grown to over 300 congregations and over 250,000 members. It is one of the fastest growing dioceses in Africa, with 12 to 15 new congregations being planted every year.
- This kind of growth is very demanding in terms of providing enough trained pastors, evangelists, catechists and church buildings.
Western Tanganyika is a rural area populated by poor subsistence farmers who grow their own food and have little money.
- In 1997, the Diocese established a Bible College to train pastors and lay catechists for ministry in this rapidly growing diocese.
The Bible College also trains leaders for several neighboring dioceses.
- Almost all of the students come from very poor areas and need financial support. A gift of $500 will provide a full year of tuition, books, room and board for a seminarian and his family.
- Trinity Church aids by supporting students as well as funding new churches.
Church Mission Society: Geoffrey Little
- Training leaders for intercultural ministry and forming intercultural churches at home and abroad.
- Geoffrey previously received support from Trinity Church when he was in Peru with the South American Mission Society.
He is now involved in intercultural urban ministry with the Church Mission Society–USA.
- His job is to train ministers and plant churches in the USA, which will serve culturally diverse urban populations.
His other job for the past 7 years, which provided inspiration for his latest inter cultural work, is priest–in–charge of St. James Church.
This Church is composed of 40% Latino, 10% African American, and 50% Anglo–American parishioners.

- Trinity Church has supported South American Mission Society missionaries, Russ and Heidi Smith, since 1993.
- They are located at San Esteban Church in Villa Alemana, Chili.
Their work is grass roots ministry, bringing people to Jesus and providing, for the spiritual needs of a growing congregation.
- Heidi’s father, Harold Hawkins, was the National President of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew until just before his death in 1998.
He and our own David Hildreth were friends and brothers in the Brotherhood of St. Andrew for many years.
Dave, and other Brotherhood members are the principal sponsors of the Smiths here at Trinity Church.

Campus Crusade For Christ: Allan And Tricia Beeber
- Trinity Church has provided support to Campus Crusade for Christ Missionaries, Allan and Tricia Beeber for a number of years.
- Allan’s special expertise is in the area of Web Based Evangelism. Some sites that he has been instrumental in developing are as follows:
- www.ccci.org : Campus Crusade for Christ International’s Web site.
- www.evangelismtoolbox.com : Comprehensive resources for evangelistic outreach.
- www.ccci.org/whoisjesus : Coming to Know Jesus through an interactive journey.
(This Web site is introducing 30–50 people per day to Christ)
- Allan is principally sponsored by a longtime member of our church, John Fittz.
It is interesting to note that John led Allan to Christ in 1973 when John was working for CCCI.
It is nice to see the fruits of John’s labor.
It is also nice for our church to be able to provide support for such a wonderful ministry today.

St. Phillip’s Church, Putnam: Father Godwin Agbo
- Trinity has partnered with St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church in Putnam, CT and the Diocese of Connecticut to aid St. Phillip’s rejuvenation into a self-sustaining, mission–minded parish.
- We helped place The Rev. Godwin Agbo, a priest from Nigeria, to be rector and we will continue to financially support the church over the next few years until it is “on its feet”.
- The church has already grown since Rev. Agbo’s arrival in July of 2004 and he continues to work hard to reach the Putnam community with the love of God in Christ.
FOCUS
